Background:
Burger’s Zoo is a well-established zoo located in Arnhem. Open since 1913, Burgers’ zoo is known and recognized for its bold innovations, sustainable practices, and creating an unforgettable experience for guests young and old alike. The zoo offers various forms of dining opportunities throughout the park. Be that as it may, guests to Burgers’ zoo have a tendency to bring their own packed lunches and snacks as opposed to taking advantage of the restaurants or cafeterias. Burger’s zoo would like to stimulate and attract business to the restaurants in the park.

the project:
Create a family friendly lunch concept for a newly redesigned café at Burgers’ zoo. The concept must provide good value to families and other visitors in terms of price and quality. In addition, the concept must also speak to the high number of German tourists the park receives on a daily basis.
The values and vision of burgers zoo – innovation, sustainability, and customer appreciation- should be reflected in the concept.

the concept: High Tree
Working in a group of four students, we designed the concept, ‘High tree: van boom tot bord’.  Featuring an étagère inspired by a tropical tree, High tree offers a memorable dining experience for the whole family! Nestled in the branches of the tree are 3 different flavours of mini burgers –classic with cheese, vegetarian black bean, and German curryworst. Curly fries (raspatat) hang from the branches like vines.  Inside the tree house there’s also a special treat: a seed to plant a tree together! The tree house can be used to take leftovers home, minimizing waste.
This exotic high tea experience offers something for everyone, creating memories as family and friends now and for the future, and teaching kids about nature, food waste and the importance of trees to the environment.
